Sri will discuss updates for the Spring School and upcoming guest lectures. He will also talk about updates in AI regulation.

Five federal financial regulatory agencies are gathering insight on financial institutions’ use of artificial intelligence (AI). The agencies seek information from the public on how financial institutions use AI in their activities, including fraud prevention, personalization of customer services, credit underwriting, and other operations.

In this session, Sri Krishnamurthy, CFA will summarize the RFI and will share his insights on:

1. Understand the use of AI, including machine learning, by financial institutions

2: appropriate governance, risk management, and controls over AI

3: Challenges in developing, adopting, and managing AI

Dr.Giulia Fanti

Dr. Giulia Fanti is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research interests span the algorithmic foundations of blockchains, distributed systems, privacy-preserving technologies, and machine learning.

She is a fellow for the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Cybersecurity, and has received best paper awards from ACM Sigmetrics and ACM MobiHoc, as well as an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship.

Giulia is a recent recipient of the Faculty Research Award given by J.P.Morgan Chase on generating synthetic time series datasets

She obtained her Ph.D. in EECS from U.C. Berkeley and her B.S. in ECE from Olin College of Engineering.
